So Forward We Go!

The voters have spoken with 60% of them saying no to an increase in property taxes.  Agree or not, the voters had the opportunity to know the facts and make an informed decision.  This won’t be easy and certainly won’t be painless, but it’s what the voters wanted and that’s what they will get.

While I was surprised that it wasn’t a little closer, it was always known that any increase would be an uphill battle.

To all that got out and worked to talk to the voters, I say “thank you”.

  1. Richard you have been a gentleman thoughout this whole process. I want to thank you for all the support you have shown our great city. Neosho will survive this downturn and will be better because of it. I know in my heart that there were people who really wanted to vote yes but didn't because of their finacial situations. Not everyone in Neosho is wealthy in fact I think that most are suffering. I have been reading some really heated statements that are outright rude and uncalled for. Not every no vote was from someone who was angry and didn't understand the facts. I know several who understood but just couldn't pay any extra. I hope the citizens of our great town will still pull together and make Neosho what it can be. Again I want to thank you and the rest of the city staff who gave lots of hours to try to get the facts to our citizens. I feel you did get the message across and the majority understood the gravity of our situation.

  2. richard thanked all those who worked for the proposition. I want to also thank those who followed their own feelings and worked to turn down another hand in our wallets...now if both sides find something to work on together, this will be better than just handing over more money into a dark hole....raising public spirit is worth more than another dollar

  3. Anon, I thanked those who supported it to avoid cutting jobs. You can raise spirits all you want, but that won't do a darn thing to keep people working.
