Former Carthage Municipal Clerk Charged with Theft

The Joplin Globe reported this morning on charges filed against former Carthage Municipal Court clerk Amy Harrison related to an alleged theft of court monies.  Harrison is charged with a Class B felony in connection with a theft of funds that were never deposited into the court's bank accounts.  The alleged theft amounted to $65K.

Harrison was fired last year after the Highway Patrol was called in to investigate the suspected theft.

Police Chief  Greg Dagnan was quoted in the Globe as saying “We’re relieved the justice system has started, even though this is just the beginning, and that the issue is closer to being resolved.  The city has been very proactive in taking steps to make sure this won’t happen again in the area of the court and the Police Department.”
