Sales of new single-family homes in December 2009 fell 7.6% from November and declined 8.6% from December 2008, to 342,000. For the full year 2009, new home sales fell 22.9% from 2008.
The median sales price of new houses sold in December 2009 was $221,300. The average sales price was $290,600. Estimated new homes for sale at the end of December was 231,000. This represents a supply of 8.1 months at the current sales rate.
